Be smart, play brilliant, and discover how to play craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately 100 years old. Modern craps developed from the ancient Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the ancestry of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s knights wagered on Hazard during a blockade on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French relocated south and found safety in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which was acquired from the term for the bad luck toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi barges and across the country. A great many think the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the modern craps setup. He appended the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to not win. At another time, he established the boxes for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
