Be smart, play clever, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is only about 100 years old. Current craps developed from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been created by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is supposed that Sir William’s horsemen wagered on Hazard during a siege on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when displaced by the British, the French headed south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which is acquired from the name of the bad luck throw of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and across the nation. A few think the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In 1907, Winn developed the current craps layout. He put in place the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. At another time, he created the spaces for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
